Anchored in inquiry-based learning, our Science programmes nurture students who do not just learn Science, but live it. We cultivate Woodgrovians who ask bold questions, seek answers with rigour, and use their knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the world around them — growing as Learners, Contributors, and Leaders with Character.

Tier 1 — Experience. Sparking Curiosity and a Love for Science

From the earliest years, Woodgrovians are immersed in experiences that bring Science to life. At the heart of our lessons is the Modified 6E Inquiry-Based Learning model — a hands-on, student-centred approach where children explore, investigate, and draw their own conclusions rather than simply receiving information. Paired with Flipped Learning through the Student Learning Space (SLS), students engage with Science concepts at their own pace before coming to class ready to dive deeper into discussion and discovery.

Closer to home, our Science Ecogarden Trails invite students to explore the school's own green spaces, sparking a love for the natural environment while nurturing values such as care, curiosity, and responsibility. These trails engage the whole child — intellectually, physically, and emotionally — reflecting our belief that becoming a scientist is as much about character as it is about knowledge.

Tier 2 — Expose. Bringing Science Beyond the Classroom

To deepen students' appreciation for Science in the real world, we organise Learning Journeys that immerse Woodgrovians in authentic environments where they can see, touch, and experience Science beyond the textbook. These experiences help students connect classroom learning to everyday life, while cultivating a sense of global responsibility and care for the environment.

Through Project Work, students also apply their Science learning across subjects in meaningful, real-world contexts. Working collaboratively in teams, they develop communication, cooperation, and problem-solving skills — embodying the spirit of a contributor and leader with character.

Tier 3 — Excel. Stretching Potential, Pursuing Excellence

For students who demonstrate a strong passion and aptitude for Science, we provide opportunities to stretch their abilities and shine on broader platforms. Our Science Olympiad Workshops challenge students with problems and concepts that go beyond the primary school syllabus, nurturing the deep curiosity and creative thinking that define a true scientist.

Selected students may also be invited to join the Excellence 2000 (E2K) Science Programme — an internationally recognised enrichment programme developed by the Israel Centre for Excellence through Education (ICEE) and endorsed by Singapore's Gifted Education Branch. Through E2K, our most passionate young scientists deepen their inquiry skills and scientific thinking, growing not just as thinkers, but as learners inspired to make a difference.

With a strong foundation in inquiry, a genuine love for discovery, and the values of a servant leader, we hope to nurture every Woodgrovian into a thoughtful young scientist who is ready to contribute to the world around them.
