Mother Tongue Languages
At Woodgrove Primary School, we believe that every Woodgrovian should enjoy learning Mother Tongue Languages in a meaningful and engaging way.

Woodgrovian Characters
Through rich and immersive learning experiences, we aim to build strong language skills while nurturing a lifelong appreciation for Mother Tongue languages and cultures from Primary 1.
Our Mother Tongue Language programme is designed to support every student's language learning journey. It reflects the department's commitment to providing authentic and enriching learning experiences that develop confident and proficient users of Mother Tongue Languages.
An important feature of the programme is the early identification of lower primary students who demonstrate aptitude and passion for learning Mother Tongue Languages. Through additional enrichment and differentiated learning opportunities, these students can further develop their potential and may be recommended to offer Higher Mother Tongue Language.
Throughout the six years, students experience a carefully planned progression of learning within and beyond the classroom. These experiences enable them to:
Expand their vocabulary and language repertoire.
Develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
Apply the language confidently in authentic contexts.
Develop an appreciation for their Mother Tongue language and its rich culture.
