Makerspace@WGPS
The Makerspace programme gives Woodgrovians opportunities to explore new areas, tinker with ideas and tools, and create solutions to real-life problems, nurturing innovative and creative thinkers.

The programme develops adaptive and inventive thinking by leveraging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) learning activities, spanning both physical and digital. It engages Woodgrovians in authentic, real-world problem-solving, using design thinking to guide them in identifying problems and designing meaningful solutions. Woven through this programme and embedded within the Makerspace@WGPS Framework are essential 21st century competencies such as collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills. Through Makerspace@WGPS, Woodgrovians learn to imagine boldly, persevere through iteration, and create with purpose.

Engaging Woodgrovians in design thinking and problem solving through fun activities
Woodgrovians experience Makerspace@WGPS through three tiers of play - each offering different ways to tinker, design and create.
Tier 1: Structured Play
Through Structured Play, all Woodgrovians are given opportunities to take part in hands-on lessons such as 3Doodling where they learn how to use 3D doodle pens to create simple artefacts. During the Learning Festival in Term 3, every level enjoys its own Makerspace activity — from exploring Lego Play Boxes to creating self-watering planters, windmills, origami and gift boxes.

Tier 2: Facilitated Play
Through Facilitated Play, selected Woodgrovians participate in programmes which are held in partnership with the Mathematics and Science departments. Participating in the Primary Math Project Competition (PMPC), Primary 4 and 5 Woodgrovians apply mathematical knowledge and design thinking to create mathematical posters and games. Interested Woodgrovians across all levels can also take part in the STEM Playground where they are engaged in STEM challenges Woodgrovians applying scientific concepts to design solutions.

Tier 3: Unstructured Play
Through Unstructured Play, Woodgrovians have the opportunity to exercise creativity by creating meaningful artefacts such as commemorative artworks for National Day and Teachers' Day.There are also online Makers Challenges via SLS that they can take part in to continue their tinkering and makingbeyond the classroom.
