Co-Curricular Activities (CCA@Woodgrove)

Through purposeful and enjoyable CCA experiences, Woodgrovians discover their interests and strengths, develop skills and pursue character excellence. They learn to work with others, overcome challenges, exercise responsibility and contribute meaningfully to the school and wider community.

Our CCA Mission

To nurture every Woodgrovian through joyful and meaningful CCA experiences, enabling each child to discover their strengths, develop competence, pursue character excellence, contribute actively and lead self and others with character.

Through CCA, Woodgrovians are given opportunities to:

• develop their interests, talents and confidence;

• build competence and strive for personal and team excellence;

• demonstrate the iGR³ACE values of Integrity, Gratefulness, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Adaptability, Courage and Empathy;

• strengthen teamwork, communication and social-emotional competencies;

• exercise leadership and take responsibility for self and others; and

contribute to the community through service and Values in Action

CCA Guidelines

Participation

• All Primary 3 to Primary 6 Woodgrovians are highly encouraged to participate actively in at least one CCA.

• A Talent Identification Programme is conducted for Primary 2 Woodgrovians at the beginning of the year in selected Sports and Performing Arts CCAs. This helps the school identify students’ interests, strengths and potential for further development.

• CCAs are generally conducted through a structured 25-week programme during the school year.

• Students are expected to participate responsibly, follow safety instructions and demonstrate respect towards their teachers, instructors and peers.

• After CCA sessions, students should return home promptly unless they are participating in another school-authorised activity.

Attendance and Commitment

• Regular and punctual attendance is important for Woodgrovians to benefit fully from the CCA programme and contribute effectively to their teams.

• Woodgrovians are encouraged to attain at least 80% attendance in their CCA.

• Parents or guardians should inform the teacher-in-charge when their child is unable to attend a CCA session, including absences due to medical reasons.

• Students should demonstrate commitment by participating actively in training, rehearsals, performances, competitions, service projects and other assigned activities.

Leadership and Character

• Students will be given age-appropriate opportunities to lead themselves and others.

• CCA leaders are expected to serve as positive role models, support their peers and uphold the school’s iGR³ACE values.

• Through team experiences, reflection and service, Woodgrovians learn to persevere through challenges, make responsible decisions and contribute to the good of others.

Recognition and Celebration

Woodgrovians who demonstrate commendable achievement, improvement, commitment, leadership, service or exemplary character may be recognised through:

• Celebration Days;

• Shine in Values & Shine in Achievement awards and recognition platforms;

• Performances, exhibitions and showcases; and

• representation at external competitions and events.

At Woodgrove Primary School, success in CCA is not measured only by medals or awards. It is also reflected in the growth of every Woodgrovian through the confidence gained, relationships built, challenges overcome and positive contributions made.

Through CCA, every Woodgrovian has an opportunity to learn, contribute and lead with character.
