CCE - Character and Citizenship Education
Character development forms the foundation of a school. It is nurtured not only through the formal curriculum, but also through co-curricular activities and the wider Woodgrovian Experience through our Woodgrove’s Total Curriculum.
At Woodgrove Primary School, CCE is enacted through coherent learning across CCE and FTGP lessons, Key Student Development Experiences, other subjects, school-based programmes, co-curricular activities and everyday interactions. We seek to make every school experience a CCE learning opportunity, enabling Woodgrovians to understand, apply and live out their learning across contexts.

How CCE Is Enacted
Through CCE, Woodgrovians develop good character, resilience and social-emotional well-being, future readiness and active citizenship. These outcomes are developed through three interdependent elements:
A caring and enabling school environment
Relevant and coherent CCE curriculum content
Intentional enactment of CCE across the total curriculum
The national CCE framework connects core values, social-emotional competencies and citizenship dispositions with curriculum content, enactment and a caring school environment.
The Woodgrovian Experience – Our Total Curriculum
Woodgrove’s Total Curriculum brings together the Core Curriculum, Enriched Curriculum and Signature Programmes. It connects CCE lessons, FTGP, iGROW, Key Student Development Experiences, CCA, VIA, National Education, Cyber Wellness, ECG, peer support, school-based initiatives and daily interactions. This coherence provides authentic opportunities for Woodgrovians to practise values, transfer learning and grow holistically.

A Caring, Inclusive and Enabling Environment
We prioritise the well-being of every Woodgrovian through a tiered support system. This ensures that all students receive a strong universal foundation, while those who require additional support receive targeted or individualised care.
Tier 1: Universal Support (All)
Foundational support for every Woodgrovian, building a caring, respectful and values-driven culture through whole-school practices.
Tier 2: Targeted Support (Some/By Level)
Tailored strategies for groups or specific levels of students who need additional guidance, such as small-group SEL coaching, academic scaffolds or FTGP enhancements.
Tier 3: Individualised Support (Few/High Needs Students)
Intensive, personalised care plans for High Needs Students and SwANs, including case management, counselling and multi-agency collaboration.
Building A Strong Peer Support Culture
A strong peer support culture equips every Woodgrovian to contribute to a caring community through peer bonding, peer helping and peer influencing. Students learn to notice the needs of others, offer practical and emotional support, promote positive behaviours and stand up against harmful peer influence.

Good Character in Action
Our Values Education packages, iGROW Curriculum and Gratitude Series help Woodgrovians understand and apply the iGR³ACE values. Through authentic experiences, students move beyond knowing values to demonstrating them in their daily choices, relationships and contributions.
Gratitude and Appreciation
Platforms such as A²STAR Day enable Woodgrovians to express gratitude and appreciation to the school’s support staff. Students write heartfelt messages that are compiled into appreciation bouquets — a meaningful gesture of thanks for the care, dedication and support provided each day.
Concerned Citizens and Active Contributors
Woodgrovians are encouraged to care for and remain emotionally rooted to their school, community and nation. They learn to contribute with their heads, hearts and hands through meaningful opportunities to serve, collaborate and respond to authentic needs.
Global Awareness and Cross-Cultural Literacy
Selected Primary 5 Woodgrovians serve as buddies to visiting students from Hong Kong, welcoming them into school life. Through these interactions, Woodgrovians apply the iGR³ACE values, communicate across cultures and strengthen their civic, global and cross-cultural literacy.
Future Readiness and Responsible Digital Citizenship
Cyber Wellness
Cyber Wellness equips Woodgrovians with the knowledge, values and skills to harness ICT for positive purposes, maintain a positive presence in cyberspace, and be safe and responsible users of technology. Through termly Cyber Wellness Week, students learn to make sound choices online and to be a positive peer influence who advocates for the good of the digital community.
Education and Career Guidance
Primary 5 and Primary 6 Woodgrovians participate in Education and Career Guidance (ECG) lessons to develop a sense of purpose and direction. By nurturing self-awareness and self-directedness for lifelong learning, ECG develops growth mindset, adaptability and resilience, while helping students appreciate the value of all occupations.
Students broaden their career awareness through talks by professionals from different industries. Primary 6 students also research occupations and present their findings during the ECG Showcase, learning from one another as they explore future possibilities.
